The Ritz-Carlton, EDITION, St. Regis, JW Marriott, W Hotels, and The Luxury Collection are considered top-of-the-line. They’re the most luxurious hotels amongst all of the Marriott hotels.

If you prefer budget-friendly hotels, Marriott calls the Select properties. Courtyard by Marriott, Four Points by Sheraton, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Protea Hotels, AC Hotels, Aloft Hotels, and Moxy Hotels are all Select brands.

Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program

Not all of the hotels participate in Marriott Bonvoy. However, a good chunk of them do. All of of the luxury brands participate with a few specific locations that don’t. Therefore, earning and redeeming Marriott Bonvoy points can be valuable.

The following are the different tiers and member benefits:

Member

Once you join the free Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, you’re automatically a Member. You don’t need nights to qualify. You only need to enroll.

The benefits of being a Member are as follows:

  • Free in-room WiFi.
  • Mobile check-in and key.
  • PointSavers allows you to save points on redemptions.

Silver Elite

After 10 nights, you’ll be upgraded to Silver Elite. If you want to have Lifetime Silver Elite status, you must have 250 total nights or 5 years of being Silver Elite. In addition to the Member benefits, you’ll also receive the following:

  • 10% bonus points on eligible hotel purchases.
  • Priority late checkout.
  • If Marriott can’t honor your reservation, they’ll pay for you to stay at another nearby hotel and the inconvenience.

Gold Elite

After 25 nights, you’ll be Gold Elite. This is where you’ll start to see more benefits. To achieve Lifetime Gold Elite status, you must stay 400 total nights and have 7 years of Gold Elite status. Along with the Member and Silver Elite benefits, you’ll get the following:

  • 25% bonus points on eligible hotel purchases.
  • If there’s a better room that’s available, you’ll get upgraded.
  • 2 PM late checkout.
  • When you arrive for your stay, you’ll get a bonus gift of points.

Platinum Elite

Achieve Platinum Elite status after you’ve stayed 50 nights. If you want Lifetime Platinum Elite status, you must have 600 total nights and 10 years of Platinum Elite status. The additional benefits of being Platinum Elite are as follows:

  • 50% bonus points on eligible hotel purchases.
  • A welcome gift when you arrive.
  • An annual gift of choice.
  • Lounge access and complimentary breakfast.
  • 4 PM late checkout.
  • Dedicated elite support.

Titanium Elite

After 75 nights, you’ll qualify for Titanium Elite. The additional benefits that you’ll receive are as follows:

  • 75% bonus points on eligible hotel purchases.
  • Additional annual choice benefit.
  • 48-hour guarantee for a room.
  • Complimentary United MileagePlus Premier Silver status.

Ambassador Elite

Once you’ve reached Ambassador Elite, you’re at the top. You’ll earn Ambassador Elite status after you’ve stayed 100 nights and spend $20,000 in annual spend. Along with the prior benefits, you’ll receive the following additional benefits:

  • Personal Ambassador service.
  • Choose your check-in and check-out time.

How to earn points

Hotel stays are one of the several ways that you can earn points. One of the best ways to maximize your points is to use a credit card that also has a large sign-up bonus.

Marriott offers co-branded credit cards with American Express and Chase. The following is a brief overview of the different cards, sign-up bonuses, and how they earn points:

Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card from Chase

  • No annual fee.
  • 50,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in your first 3 months from your account opening.

  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.

Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card from Chase

  • $95 annual fee.

Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card

  • 2 points per $1 spent on all other purchases.
